Medical Nursing Program Expands to newer Areas in California

Fresno, CA (PRWEB) January 5, 2008 -- Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts has recently announced its expansion into the San Joaquin Valley. Enrollment beginning soon at the Fresno, California campus will include programs in Licensed Vocational Nursing as well as Phlebotomy. These programs are designed to prepare the graduate for a rewarding career in the medical field. Selected students will have the opportunity to prepare for the necessary certification exams that will give the ability to work within any number of the areas hospitals, surgical facilities, clinics, or labs.

These programs employ the current curricula as prescribed by the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians as well as the California Department of Public Health, respectively. Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts (GAMA) prides itself on our adherence to and belief in upholding the educational standards as required by all agencies.

The Vocational Nursing Program (LVN or LPN) utilizes the plan that nursing courses progress along the continuum of simple to complex, normal to abnormal. The organizing principle is homeostasis as it relates to the study of representative client problems by addressing the various anatomical systems and specialty areas in nursing

The Phlebotomy Technician program is designed for people who plan to work for a clinical laboratory, public health department, private clinic or hospital. The course combines 40-hours classroom instruction with a 40-hours off-site clinical internship to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience. Lectures include but are not limited to Anatomy and Medical Terminology pertaining to the circulatory system, specimen collection, risk factors, complications and quality assurance in specimen collection.

GAMA is a private healthcare college and students are carefully selected based on their abilities to excel in the desired field and their strong desire to work in environment centered on patient-care.

At the present time there is a shortage of medical professionals. Local clinical facilities will enjoy a constant stream of qualified candidates to augment their work force and the community will benefit from the resulting quality care they will receive from these exceptional nurses and Phlebotomists.
